Statistics in Social Sciences Using SPSS

A 2-credit Value Added Course (VAC) of 30 hours from the Department of Psychology, open to students of Psychology, Geography, History, Economics and Sociology. Six units, from scales of measurement to correlation and simple linear regression, worked in SPSS. Registering takes a minute.

VAC Preference Survey

Under the National Education Policy 2020 the department has proposed 15 Value Added Courses for the forthcoming academic year. Students of the department, of other departments and of other colleges are invited to indicate the courses they would like to study, so that those in demand can be scheduled.

The survey indicates neither registration nor admission to any course. Courses to be offered will be announced by separate notice.

Welcome

A department with deep roots, flourishing every day

Psychology has been taught at Elphinstone College since the 1980s, when it separated from Philosophy to become an independent department. In 2019, with the founding of Dr. Homi Bhabha State University, we launched a full undergraduate major; in 2024–25 we welcomed our first postgraduate cohort.

The department occupies space inside one of Mumbai’s most storied buildings (a Romanesque Transitional landmark on Mahatma Gandhi Road). Our students learn between heritage walls and modern laboratories.
